Admissions

The academy will have 180 secondary places each year and the sixth form will provide places for up to 350 pupils.

ARK is working with Redbridge Council to ensure that the admissions criteria for the academy are clear and fair, and will serve children who live in the area nearest the academy. The oversubscription policy has now been agreed as follows.

Where the academy is over-subscribed, pupils with statements of special educational needs, where the academy is named on the statement, will be given first priority. After this the oversubscription criteria will be applied in the order below:

a) Children in public care
b) Children who have a sibling who already attends the school (when this becomes relevant)
c) Children who live closest to the academy

If parents are not offered a place at the academy for their child, they will have the right to appeal against that decision. Appeals will be heard by the governors’ appeals panel appointed in accordance with the statutory code of practice on schools admission appeals.

The admissions policy will be sent out for consultation each year, in accordance with local authority procedures.
