Our mission:  To create a thriving learning community which enriches the unique strengths, interests and ambitions of every student.

In September 2009 our new Sixth Form will open its doors for the first time. We are committed to providing a level of challenge and support that will not be found elsewhere. Challenge will be provided by talented teachers leading small classes in modern, purpose-built facilities. Support will be ensured through each student being well known to the staff and students around them.

Facilities and resources

Our sixth form centre will be based on the top floor of our performing arts block, scheduled for completion in autumn 2009. Technology will play a key role in students’ learning, with resources such as interactive whiteboards, wireless internet and a virtual learning environment that will allow students to submit work and access resources online.

Courses

We will offer a range of traditional A level courses which will enable students to compete for places at top universities. These will be supplemented by vocational courses such as Business, ICT, Health & Social Care and Travel & Tourism.

Enrichment

Diverse enrichment activities will provide our students with the confidence and maturity to excel in higher education and in their future careers. Highlights will include local, national and international educational visits and social events organised by our student committee.

Entry requirements

To study A levels students will need to gain five A*-C grades in their GCSEs, including English and mathematics.   Where a subject is also offered at GCSE, most courses will require students to have gained at least a Grade B in order to pursue the same subject at A Level.
