Admissions
Admissions
We welcome applications for 180 places in year 7 for September 2009.
If you are interested in applying to the academy, or would like to find out more, we will be holding open mornings (0900-1100) on 6th, 7th and 8th of October, followed by an open evening on Thursday 9th October 2008.
To apply for a place at Burlington Danes Academy there are two forms to complete. The first is the Hammersmith and Fulham Common Application Form (CAF), the second is our own supplementary form. Both of these will be available later this year. Find out more
In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact Roger Vinter on 020 7395 2080. The deadline for applications for 2009-10 will be 24th October 2008.
Admissions criteria
If the academy is oversubscribed, priority will be given to pupils with statements of special educational needs, where the academy is named on the statement. The remaining places will then be offered in the following order of priority:
a) children in public care
b) children who have a sibling who already attends the school and who will continue to do so on the date of admission (for this purpose “sibling” means a whole, half or step-brother/sister resident at the same address)
c) up to 25 per cent of the remaining admissions will be allocated to children who attend Church of England primary schools and, where there are more applications than places, who live closest to the school using a straight line distance from the main entrance of the academy to the main entrance to the child’s home
d) after the application of paragraph c) above the remaining admissions will be allocated to children regardless of which school they attend and where there are more applications than places, who live closest to the school using a straight line distance from the main entrance of the academy to the main entrance to the child’s home.
The academy keeps a waiting list which is used to fill casual vacancies occurring if students leave during the year, or withdraw from a place that has been offered.
Appeals
Parents/carers who are not offered a place for their child are entitled to appeal to an independent committee under the provisions of the School Standards and Framework Act, 1998. Parents/carers wishing to appeal should contact Roger Vinter on 020 7395 2080, who will be able to advise them on the process.
