Extended school and enrichment opportunities

Extended schools support ARK Schools' vision to develop high aspirations, motivations and achievement in all of its students. Access to academic and non-academic enrichment activities by students significantly enhances the social and emotional development necessary for educational success.

ARK Schools will ensure that every pupil has access to high quality educational, physical and artistic programmes during lunchtimes, after school and, in some academies, on Saturday mornings and during school holidays. In ARK academies there is a strong expectation that all pupils will participate in at least one extended school activity, of their own choosing, per week. The locally driven programming ensures that each academy caters for the particular needs and interests of their own pupils, supported where appropriate, by ARK resources.

In addition to extending opportunities for pupils beyond the school day, ARK provide a rich and varied educational experience through curriculum linked enrichment opportunities that enhance pupils educational experience. These typically include school trips, residential experiences, visits, explorations and invited guests.
